"Alright, We're Going To The Wishbone"

After that was said, football was forever changed.  OU didn't beat Texas that year, but the next year, the Sooners went on to "hang half a hundred" on Texas.

I opened a bag on 100 calorie Nabisco Chocolate Covered Pretzels today.  To my surprise, there were approximately 6 tiny chocolate pretzels, about the size of nickels in the bag.  I don't know what frustrated me more.  The fact that the bag was practically empty or the fact that I ate all 6 pretzels, I wasn't full and I knew it was 100 calories I had just wasted.  But I couldn't be upset, Nabisco isn't bringing me down today.  It is OU / TEXAS WEEK.  The best week of football season!

Tomorrow Jack and I are heading to Dallas, home of the cotton bowl, fair beers (my friends have been calling them "waxy beers"), Fletcher's, "pons" (translation: Coupons) and the Red River Rivalry.  Velcro Dog will be cheering for the Sooners from Norman.  He is staying with his grandma this weekend, but we will be sure to send his OU Jersey.

I feel like today is Friday.  My mood is wonderful.  It is Fall.  And this is our year.  The Sooners are going to BEAT TEXAS.  It is long overdue.

It's That Time Of Year!!!

Yes, this weekend I am going to decorate my house for FALL (even though it is still holding a steady 90 degrees outside).  Today is the first day of Fall.  This time of the year brings us so many things: pumpkin patches, football, chili, falling leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, cooler weather.... I could go on.  But the number on thing that fall brings me is ----- CHRISTMAS EXCITEMENT!!!!

I had to give the blog a little face lift in celebration for Christmas only being 93 days away.  Soon people will be buying trees, blaring Johnny Mathis & Mariah Carey and lighting candles that smell of pine.  So if you are having a tough time making it through your work day, head over to VELCRO DOG and listen to a few Christmas tunes.  Let's all get a little Christmas pep in our step!  After all, this is the most wonderful time of the year!!!

Stupidity at it's Finest Part II

I am having a bit of trouble in the make-up department.  I am normally the girl you see browsing the aisles at Target for the best mascara on the shelf, or the powder that is most like the ones they sell in department stores.  Well, I have had two bad hiccups lately.  All is fine and dandy, but my judgement seems to have really strayed when buying my last purchase.

Have you all heard of La Prairie?  Yeah, me neither.  But low and behold, that is what I left Saks with on Saturday.  I went in to help Sarah pick out a red lipstick, I strayed to another counter, tried on a lipstick, didn't look at the price, purchased and walked out thinking all was right in the world, I mean hello, I had a great new red lipstick...... Until I saw my price tag.  "$59 and some change" I told Sarah in shock.  Needless to say, I am taking it back this week.  I can't handle this buyer's remorse.

Damn you La Prairie.

Stupidity at it's Finest

Rev. Terry Jones has been on my mind A LOT today.  What on earth kind of idiot would think that burning the Quran would be a good idea?  Where will that get us?

I heard my favorite song on the radio today while I was driving back to work.  Lee Greenwood's "I'm Proud to be an American".  I guess listening to this song struck a nerve in me so I decided to write this post.  I know people may not always agree about religion, politics.... or music, but I have got to get this off my chest.

I truly believe that by Terry Jones doing this, it will come with a whirlwind of consequences for all American's.  We aren't the most loved country to begin with, why pour salt on an open wound?  It scares me that one human being could be so stupid and arrogant.  He keeps talking about how people over seas have burnt down churches and killed Christians, etc.  But isn't what he is planning on doing September 11th, completely against what he preaches about every Sunday in the first place?  You don't want persecution against Christians in other nations, so why prosecute non-Christians here in America.  He calls himself a Christian, a Reverend for that matter, yet he is going to burn religious text of Islam.  What is that going to accomplish?  Nothing, except put American's in danger and put our troops over seas in a world of danger.  Instead of burning a book, why not reach out to the Islamic community and be a witness to those you think that are lost.? Tell them about your God.  Tell them how he saved you from a life of emptiness.  Tell him how your God died on the cross to save you from your sins.  What is burning a book going to do?  What will it help?  Does Terry Jones think if he burns this Quran, that the Mosk they want to build  a few blocks away from ground zero won't happen?  Wake up, Mr. Jones..... It's not as simple as burning a book.  If you want to be a witness for Christ, then be a witness, don't trash other people's religious views just because they are different than yours.  I don't think it says anywhere in the Bible that you should go burning Quran's if people don't believe in the same God that you do.  Rather, the Bible says:

Matthew 28:19, 20 - “Go there fore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Mark 16:15 - And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Terry Jones, what you are doing as selfish.  "The Flag Still Stands for Freedom" (Lee Greenwood).  That is freedom of speech, I understand.  But also freedom from religious persecution.  Don't be the person you are preaching against.  Be the person God intended for you to be.  Be his witness, not a book burner.

"There's Only One" Day Left Until OU Kick-Off!

Random Morning Post

Hey there!  Who watched some college football last night?  I know for sure that my husband did!  I watched a few snaps but was too busy super cleaning for company this weekend.  I am so excited for tomorrow!  I get chills thinking about OU running out onto Owen Field.  Boomer Sooner!  The weather is going to be fabulous, I am stoked.

In other news, my Dad was on the computer this morning and we chatted for a few minutes.  He was looking for a hummus recipe.  Haha, yes, this caught me completely by surprise as well.  For a guy who normally likes steaks and chili, he doesn't really strike me as the hummus type.  I sent him a link to the Pioneer Woman.  Anyone looking for a simple hummus recipe, this one looks great - http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/05/classic-hummus/

Also this morning, while I was busy getting my daily dose of celebrity gossip, I came across this short video.  This explains to all of my friends why I love country music so much.  Taylor Swift signed autographs for 14.5 hours at the CMA Festival.  How awesome is that?
