Scentsy!

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  I wanted to mention that my Mom (you can call her Mother T) sells Scentsy Wickless Candles!  I am a firm believer in these things.  I have a few warmers and when they are turned on at my house, you can't even tell that we live with a 50 pound VelcroDog!  Jack and I also live in an older 1940's house, so it tends to have a muggy smell every so often.  Scentsy is safe, as it doesn't have a flame.  It also doesn't cause the black soot you find on your walls on moving day around your big painting that hung above your favorite candle.  Some of my favorite scents are Echo, Simply Irresistible, Luna, Havana Cabana, White Tea and Cactus... who are we kidding, my list could go on and on.  I had my mom write up a little blog "flyer" if you will.  There are some specials going on in February and new scents coming out soon!  I have posted her website link on my sidebar if you are interested in ordering!  Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

SCENTSY!!!
In February almost every product is an extra 10% off.

The new spring/summer scents and warmers come out March 1st.  These are some of the prettiest warmers that have come out!  Scentsy warmers are all hand-made.  You will love the new Spring/Summer Scents.

Coming in May......Body lotions with shea butter and washer and dryer disks..........all come in your favorite scentsy scents.

Touch

I loved 24 and was so sad when it went off the air.  Jack Bauer was such a G.  I find it extremely hard to find new shows to fall in love with once my favorite's go off the air.  LOST was another big heartache.

I recently had been seeing previews/commercials for this new show called "Touch" on Fox.  Kiefer Sutherland is in it and the commercials I had seen looked amazing.  Jack and I decided to Tivo it on Wednesday night.  We watched it last night and it was AMAZE-ING.  Seriously, it was fabulous.  The only downfall was I thought this was the season premier and this was actually just a PILOT PREVIEW!  The show doesn't start until March 19th!!!  I will have to wait that long to watch it again.  So sad but definitely will be worth the wait.

If you loved Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, you will love him as Martin Bohm.  You can view the pilot HERE to catch up.  Then stay turned for the season premier on March 19th!

We are all interconnected. Our lives are invisibly tied to those whose destinies touch ours.
Blending science, spirituality and emotion, the series will follow seemingly unrelated people all over the world whose lives affect each other in ways seen and unseen, known and unknown. At the story’s center is MARTIN BOHM (Kiefer Sutherland), a widower and single father, haunted by an inability to connect to his emotionally challenged 11-year-old son, JAKE (David Mazouz). Caring, intelligent and thoughtful, Martin has tried everything to reach his son. But Jake never speaks, shows little emotion, and never allows himself to be touched by anyone, including Martin. Jake is obsessed with numbers—writing long strings of them in his ever-present notebooks—and with discarded cell phones.
Social worker CLEA HOPKINS (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) believes that Jake’s needs are too serious for Martin to handle. She sees a man whose life has become dominated by a child he can no longer control. She believes that it’s time for the state to intervene. So Jake is placed in foster care, despite Martin’s desperate objections.
But everything changes after Martin meets ARTHUR TELLER (Danny Glover), a professor and an expert on children who possess special gifts when it comes to numbers. Martin learns that Jake possesses an extraordinary gift—the ability to perceive the seemingly hidden patterns that connect every life on the planet. While Martin wants nothing more than to communicate directly with his son, Jake connects to his father through numbers, not words. Martin realizes that it’s his job to decipher these numbers and recognize their meaning. As he puts the pieces together, he will help people across the world connect as their lives intersect according to the patterns Jake has foreseen.
Martin’s quest to connect with his son will shape humanity’s destiny.

State of the Union

I'm not politically vocal and neither is VelcroDog.  I don't appreciate discussing politics with friends, because I don't like to argue - and some of my friends are those people that are always right when it comes to politics.  You know the type...

Now that I have stated the above, the link I am about to post is nothing more than a little SOTU humor.  I found it funny.  My friend Alexis over at pppppfffffffttttttt sent it to me today.

Lobster at Home

On New Year's Eve, Jack made a surf and turf at our house.  It was delicious and he absolutely nailed it.  Neither of us had ever cooked Lobster before, so Jack went to the internet to find information on how to prepare it.  He found the following video that was very helpful - for any of you interested in making your own delicious lobster at home and have no idea how to start, check out this video!

I'm not sure if the video says this or if Jack just read it, but he put Paprika on the lobster before putting it in the broiler to help it brown a little on top.  The presentation was beautiful and it was cooked perfectly!

I Hate Cancer.

Cancer.  What a frightening word.  There are all kinds of cancer and so many people fighting those different cancers every day.  My friend recently told me that her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer the day before Christmas Eve.  She is now on her road to recovery after having a double lumpectomy last week.  What a blessing!  Please keep her in your prayers though, as she starts radiation.  She will have 6 1/2 weeks of that.

Today my friend Karns sent me an email about her friend Alli who recently found out she had breast cancer.  Alli is THIRTY FIVE years old!  She started a blog and you can follow her on her journey here.  She plans on getting a double mastectomy followed by chemo.  Her and her husband have also had fertility problems in the past, so they froze three embryos in hopes that after all of this is said and done, they could have their little girl a sibling.  Keep Alli in your prayers.  Although I don't know her, her story is so moving to me.  When did women start getting breast cancer so early?  Christina Applegate, Giuliana Rancic, the list goes on.  It is becoming much more common to hear about women in their 20's and 30's being diagnosed with breast cancer.  As a woman myself, and a person who has seen cancer effect my own family and friends first hand, I am making a promise to myself right now, that I will give myself daily self breast exams and start becoming more conscious about what is going on with my own body.  I hope all of you reading will do the same.

zzzzzz.....

VelcroDog on his way home from work yesterday. Nothing better than this guy right here.  He's so smart utilizing the seat belt as a head holder.  Having a full time job is tiring - it can be so ruff.

Delish

I made these last night.  Yumm!
I didn't add sour cream.  I added a little extra cilantro.  They were big and delish!

So Long 2011

The year 2011 was a year of many ups and downs for Jack and I.  Probably more downs that ups.  Looking back on a year of a lot of sadness and loss, it got me thinking of what I want my 2012 New Years Resolution to be.

This year, I am going to make a point of being grateful and happy for the things I have in my life at this very moment.  Easy huh?  Not quite.  I go day to day a lot of times overlooking the wonderful home I live in, my car that gets me from place to place, my family who is always there, my friends who would do anything for me...  Not that I don't appreciate all of these things, but I feel like I need to say it out loud more.  A lot of times, I don't express my gratefulness for things until they are gone.  I don't want it to be like that anymore.  So in 2012, I hope to be more vocal about my specific blessings, for I do not know what tomorrow holds.

Happy New Years to all of my readers!  I hope this year is your best yet!
