Melts My Heart...

I don't normally share pictures of myself in PJ's and no make-up here on the 'ol blog, but I just can't resist posting this.  I mean how sweet is this guy?  We snuggled on the couch last night and watched a little TV.
In other news, here's a few more monogrammed items I have done this week.  I also did two shirt cuffs, but I forgot to snap pics of them!

Potluck Dinner Party (plus wine of course)

Some friends had us and a few other couples over last Friday for a Potluck Dinner Party and a wine tasting.  The food was absolutely delicious!  Our instruction on the wine tasting was to bring our wine we in a paper sack so nobody could tell who brought what bottle or which kind.  Was it expensive?  Was it cheap?

As we ate dinner, the hostess brought out the bottles of wine one at a time and let everyone taste.  We wrote down a few comments on our sheets of paper.  After we went through the 8 bottles, she brought them all back out and we talked about what we thought they tasted like, it we loved them, if we hated them, etc. before she ripped the bags off the bottles.  It was SO FUN and FUNNY!  Some people thought the best tasting wine was the one they brought, others weren't sure, I was nervous Jack and I brought the wine everyone said tasted horrible.  We had a blast!  I think the wines ranged between $7-$30.  So we had a great range.

Side note:  Jack and I brought bottle #8.  MooBuzz Pinot Noir.  It's $14.99 at the Liquor Store and if you open it before you drink it to let it breath, I think it tastes pretty darn good!  The ratings on our wine were some goods and some averages.  Nothing really special about this bottle of wine, but nobody said it was terrible :)

Try this fun idea at your next dinner party!  It's tons of fun!

The Countdown Continues...

Has anyone been paying attention to my Christmas Countdown at the top of my blog?  Oh my goodness - Christmas is right around the corner!  But before we get to Christmas, we must stop by Thanksgiving first.  I am so excited about it, I absolutely LOVE this holiday.  What's better than being with family, eating Turkey & dressing and giving thanks?

For the past few years, Jack and I have hosted Thanksgiving Dinner at our house.  And when I say dinner, I mean a 1:30pm-2ish late lunch?!  Isn't that when everyone eats "dinner" on the 24th of November?  I make my Grandmother's turkey recipe and I'm so excited because this year is going to be the first year I use her turkey platter.  Last year I used a platter with a pig on it #plattersthatdontremindyouofthanksgiving.  Jack is also going to make a tenderloin.  His dad used to always make tenderloin's for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so he wants to keep that tradition alive.

I think I will do my grocery shopping on Friday when I get off work.  I have half day Fridays so I will be able to go during the day while HOPEFULLY everyone else is at work.  I fear the thought of going to the grocery store the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Will they run out of Turkeys?  Will they have enough chicken broth?  I must get my groceries soon!

A few things I am thankful for:
  • Our Merciful God and the love He shows to me daily.
  • My truly amazing / handsome husband.  How did I get so lucky?  Love isn't a big enough word to describe how I feel about him.
  • Jonathan.  What a miracle and gift babies are.
  • VelcroDog.  AKA - Mr. Tank, Mr. Baby, Magoo, Snick.  This little guy brings so much joy and laughter into our home.
  • My Wonderful Family.
  • My Hilarious Friends.
  • Prayer.
  • Laughter.

So Confused.

Mr. Tank is going crazy wondering why his mom has been getting home from work and sitting behind a machine all night, every night this week!  He normally expects a lot more quality time than this!
Here are a couple things I worked on last night.  Red and Green onesies for a December baby and also a burp cloth.  I can't really explain why this customer chose the wording... It's an rather lengthy inside joke she has with the dad-to-be.  She's a lawyer and real smart, so it is actually a rather fitting gift for her to give :)

Not so much a Green Thumb.

I wish I were better at gardening/flowering, but I am just not.  I plant stuff in the Spring but I am notorious for letting my backyard overgrow.  We just have too many weeds!  It's hard, but hopefully one day, I will have a great looking flowerbed and maybe even a little garden?  Dream a little dream, Jamie....

One thing I have conquered are my indoor flowers.  I don't have pots of flowers or anything inside, but I normally get fresh flowers from the store before I have guests over.  Whole Foods has the BEST flowers in my opinion.  So pretty and I think the price is great.  Back at the beginning of the year, I was buying hydrangeas (my ultimate favorite flower - my whole wedding bouquet was hydrangeas) this man told me that they love water and when I am changing out the water, that I should run cold water directly on the blooms.  I have been using this technique since he told me that and my flowers last so much longer!  I give them fresh water and water the blooms about every 3 days.  Below is a picture of the flowers in our guest bathroom that I bought on October 28th.  This picture was taken last night, November 9th.  Almost 3 weeks later:
and because I don't think I have ever posted a wedding photo on my blog.  Here's a peek at my flowers!
